Caspian Michigan is located in the Upper Peninsula right next to the Wisconsin boarder across the Brule River. Iron River is the more well known township. The settlements in Iron County include Iron River, Stambaugh, Gaastra, and Caspian. Caspian has a rich mining history with 6 major mines in the area in around 1900-1922. The Baltic Mine, The Caspian Mine, The Young's Mine, The Fogarty Mine, The Burks Mine, and the Buck Mine. The Caspian area was predominately settled by Italians but also included may other ethnics cultures and groups.
